We invite scholarly contributions

TREDT 2027 invites scholars, researchers, and emerging academics to submit contributions that engage critically with the transformation of religious knowledge, authority, and education in the digital age.

We welcome interdisciplinary perspectives from theology, religious education, sociology of religion, Islamic studies, digital studies, media studies, philosophy, and adjacent fields. Empirical research, theoretical reflections, and methodological contributions are equally valued.

Submission Formats

Three ways to contribute

TREDT 2027 accepts three types of contributions, each suited to different stages of scholarly engagement.

Individual Paper

300–500 words 20 min + Q&A

Original research papers presenting empirical findings, theoretical analyses, or methodological reflections. Most common submission format.

Panel Proposal

3–4 papers 90 min session

Coordinated proposals with three to four conceptually connected papers and a chair/discussant. Include a 300-word rationale plus individual abstracts.

Early Career Forum

PhD & MA Structured feedback

Dedicated space for doctoral candidates and advanced master's students to present ongoing research with senior scholar feedback in a supportive setting.

Submission Guidelines

What to include in your submission

Required materials +

Every submission should include:

  • Title of your paper or panel proposal
  • Abstract (300–500 words for individual papers; 300 words rationale + individual abstracts for panels)
  • Five keywords reflecting the main themes
  • Short bio (100–150 words) for each author, including institutional affiliation
  • Contact details (email, institutional address)
  • Indication of preferred thematic strand from the seventeen lines of inquiry
Languages +

Submissions and presentations are accepted in English, German, Turkish, Arabic, and Indonesian. Simultaneous translation into English will be provided for all sessions.

Abstracts should be submitted in English to facilitate the review process. If your presentation will be delivered in another language, please indicate this in your submission.

Review process +

All submissions undergo peer review by members of the Scientific Advisory Board, drawn from the conference's partner institutions and international affiliates.

The review process considers scholarly quality, thematic relevance, and originality of contribution. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by 30 October 2026.

Please use the subject line "TREDT 2027 Abstract Submission" and attach your abstract as a PDF or Word document. You will receive an automatic confirmation upon receipt.

Publication opportunities +

Selected contributions will be considered for publication in:

  • An edited volume with an international academic publisher
  • A peer-reviewed special issue of an academic journal

Authors retain copyright of their contributions. Publication details will be communicated to selected authors after the conference.
